The role of Senior Buyer (a) in the cable industry is responsible for the strategic and operational procurement, negotiation, and purchasing of raw materials, components, and finished products required for cable manufacturing and distribution. This position ideally requires an understanding of the cable industry, including knowledge of suppliers, materials, and market trends. The role ensures that all purchases meet quality standards, are cost-effective, and are delivered on time to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
Your Responsibilities
- Responsible for the operational and strategic procurement and supply management of an assigned portfolio of raw materials for the manufacture of high-, medium-, and low-voltage cables, as well as other key components for cable production, taking into account supply reliability and cost optimization
- Developing and implementing category strategies for assigned material groups
- Analyzing international procurement markets and identifying new procurement opportunities, cost-saving initiatives, and value-added opportunities
- Managing the entire procurement process for assigned materials, including demand analysis, placing orders, and related follow-up activities
- Establishing and maintaining long-term strategic partnerships with key suppliers
- Supporting audits and internal controls
Your profile
- Education in a technical or business administration field, as well as a strong technical understanding
- 7–10 years of relevant professional experience in procurement. Experience in industrial manufacturing is preferred
- Demonstrable experience in strategic sourcing, supplier development, and procurement optimization initiatives.
- Ideally, knowledge of the cable industry and the corresponding procurement market, particularly in the area of materials for cable manufacturing
- Strong organizational skills and a structured, pragmatic approach to problem-solving, combined with the ability to set priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills when interacting with internal and external stakeholders
- Very good written and spoken German and English. Additional foreign languages, preferably Italian, are a plus
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus)
