Junior Sustainability Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Creating and implementing long-term sustainability goals that align with the company's values and objectives.
- Tracking sustainability performance through key metrics and reporting progress to stakeholders, including preparing annual sustainability reports.
- Identifying opportunities for reducing energy consumption, water use, and waste generation, while promoting efficient resource use.
- Ensuring that suppliers adhere to environmental and social sustainability standards and improving the sustainability of the supply chain.
- Educating and encouraging employees to adopt sustainable practices through training, awareness programs, and internal campaigns.
- Exploring new technologies and practices that enhance the company’s sustainability performance and adapting to industry trends.
- Working with other departments to integrate sustainability into daily business operations and decision-making processes.
- Leading and promoting community engagement, volunteer programs, and philanthropic activities aligned with the company’s values.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in areas such as environmental science, sustainability management, industrial engineering, business administration (with a focus on sustainability), energy and resource technology or related fields.
- Additional qualifications or certificates in sustainability, such as ISO 14001 (environmental management systems), LEED (Leadership in Sustainable Design and Construction), or CSR certificates.
- Data analysis and reporting: Ability to analyse sustainability indicators and present them in sustainability reports.
- Project management: Skills in managing projects, particularly in the area of implementing sustainability initiatives.
- Ability to communicate complex sustainability issues clearly and convincingly, both internally and externally.
- Negotiating skills: Ability to work with various stakeholders (e.g. suppliers, partners, executives) and negotiate sustainable solutions.
- Teamwork and leadership skills: Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and foster a sustainable corporate culture.
- Problem-solving skills: Creativity and innovative spirit in solving sustainability challenges.
- Knowledge of software tools for sustainability management and reporting (e.g. carbon footprint tools, energy analysis software, ESG data management systems).
Familiarity with MS Office, IT affinity
